you smell

Actually, there is a particularly smelly guy who frequents our local library and who it is important NEVER to get in an elevator with.

However, I'm not sure I think reeky types should be booted from the premises, as is allowed in San Luis Obispo. Such regulations are full of thorny questions:

...said Irene Macias, Santa Barbara's library services manager.

"What is bad odor?" Macias asked. "A woman who wears a strong perfume? A person who had a garlicky meal?

The gentleman in the elevator smells of neither garlic nor perfume, I assure you.

I wanted maybe a room or something they could all congragate in at my library, since by and large, the reeky ones in our library were trying to escape the -22 windchill outside, and I really couldn't blame them for that. It just did make breathing in the stacks harder than I'd like.

And really, I don't think I'd mind if they asked people with stinky perfume to leave the premise either--in fact, it's probably just a matter of time before someone (California, no doubt) makes rules about that too, since some perfumes can trigger asthma and allergy attacks.

I hadn't thought about the alergy aspect.

I guess they'll avoid going into the library there after a large spicy curry dinner, too.
