Temples of Raleigh

The oldest place of worship is the Rialto. The Colony, now owned by the same folks, is this great 1970s place with shag carpeting (in groovy earthtone biomorphic patterns) on the walls of the main cinema. Very much missed are places such as the Ambassador, downtown. Just before the wrecking ball hit, some of my theater pals nabbed a few mementoes; for many years after the destruction the Ambassador's poster for TAXI DRIVER hung on my wall.
